THE TILLS KEEP RINGING: AND CASH REMAINS KING IN A SUMMER OF TRANSFER MADNESS
£220m, £160m, £135m and still counting….
Premier league clubs up the stakes as the battle for the most coveted and competitive league starts during the summer of mad cash!
Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are both desperate to close the gap upon last year’s champions and both have opened the cheque books with envy from other teams
Antonio Conte is also desperate to avoid being caught up and has gone to the Russian billionaire to fill the shelf with Quality and expensive.
What a season we have ahead of us!
I watched Jose Mourinhos team play a few games in America and especially against City, the pace of the front players – whoever they were – was frightening. Lukaku, Rashford, Mikhitaryan, Pogba, Lingaard, Martial, pick any four of those running at you and you know you’re in for a fight.
Manchester United look Set with the addition of Nemanja Matic to finally go for the title once again, after Sir Alex.
Jose has demonstrated his pulling power by attracting Matic and stealing Lukaku from under Chelsea’s nose, perhaps demonstrating he is still a serial winner last season – wining Euro League, EFL Cup and Charity Shield with “that” United team – has once again attracted the big players to him and pitched Lukaku and Matic from under Chelsea’s nose to his tent in a mega reunion.
We hear he is waiting to pounce for Gareth Bale, IF Madrid sign Mbappe…
Who says he has no man-management skills? If you get 14 players you’ve played with – all top players – to resign for you again at some point in your career, then hats off to you in man-management.
Pep is busy as well, spending £220m already and it doesn’t look like he is done as he is looking for a top central defender to pick from the shelves as he recovers from the humiliation of winning nothing last season
I watched City demolish Tottenham in the states a few days ago and if I am a Tottenham fan, I’ll be worried by the lack of contest on the day.
City were simply on another level and Tottenham without Walker and Wanyama just looked light weight and off the scales.
DeBruyne, Silva, Jesus, Aguero just kept finding holes and picking the pockets of Spurs midfielders and defenders
I felt sorry for Tottenham.
Hmmm now to Chelsea and Conte who wants to avoid a Mourinho season.
Which one of the seasons? The ones he won the Premiership and Cup doubles or?
Ah! Okay he meant the one that ended in the mid-season sack.
I guess after a near disastrous pre-season (I remember the same happened in pre-season after Chelsea won the league in 2014) Mr Conte is already under pressure and wondering ‘what if?’
The toughest thing for a champion to do is to go out again and again and perform at the highest level and with same standards or even better.
Loses to Inter Milan and Bayern I’m sure worries Conte after the 3-0 win against Arsenal. I think Chelsea would still be a team very difficult to beat, but without Costa and perhaps Hazard for first few games, little dots matter in this conundrum called the premier league.
Squeaky bum starts early this season!
Liverpool still play waiting game as Klopp elects to buy U-21 star Solanke from Chelsea and erm….
There’s talk about VanDirk, okay but there was talk surrounding Nabil Keith too but nothing came of it.
Coutinho holds the aces. If he stays, then Liverpool are still able to produce magic from midfield and cause opposition several problems but if he leaves, Klopp may be in trouble as he would struggle to replace the talisman who we hear his agent is trying to put him on a flight to Barcelona!
And Arsenal and Wenger. Lacazette comes in and hell breaks loose; Giroud is unhappy, Perez wants to leave, Sanchez refuses to join the party and Ozil continues to play the waiting game…
It’s all happening at the Emirates as Arsenal prepare for life in the Thursday league.
One player that has been linked to Arsenal is Lemar from Monaco even though sources in France say he is not leaving for the price offered, especially as Bakayoko and Mendy both commanded such high fees as well.
They feel Lemar is worth much more.
Would Arsene Wenger bid £1 more as he did for Suarez a few years ago?
Time would tell.
Whatever happens, we have an exciting 30 more days, and guess what? The tills are ringing endlessly as the cash keeps going moving. What a summer!
